We are looking for a Linux Support Engineer Engineer to join an established team as part of our customer's ongoing project. The ideal candidate will have strong Linux knowledge, experienced with troubleshooting (parsing logs, technical investigations), excellent communication skills (written and verbal), can work under pressure in a customer facing environment, would be willing to learn and expand their remit and be comfortable working as part of a cross-functional team, sharing knowledge, supporting and helping others.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
  • Provide technical support to the customer
  • Assist with the installation and usage of each delivered build of the product
  • Troubleshoot and resolve often complex issues raised with the product via ticketing system
  • after 3 month initial training period, 24/7 on-call rota
ABOUT YOU
  • 2-3 years of experience working in a Linux/UNIX system administration role
  • Knowledge of Red Hat Linux including standard services, protocols, applications, software updates and data recovery
  • Experience working with virtualized environments
  • Proficient with at least one scripting language (ideally Python or Bash)
BONUS SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience working with various network protocols (NFS, SSH, DNS, NTP, DHCP etc)
  • Networking and connectivity troubleshooting
  • Working with high-availability clusters
  • Working in an agile software development environment
  • Ability to clearly explain complicated concepts
  • Ability to write clear and concise emails and documentation
  • Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills to resolve complex technical issues
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Experience in customer facing roles
  • Willingness to occasionally travel
